Perfect for measuring large residential properties or commercial properties of any size. The D810 touch and E7500i laser modules can read a target at distances that exceed your ability to see the laser point. With the point finder -- a 4x zoom digital viewfinder -- you see your target on the DISTO screen, and a cross hair tells you exactly what the laser is hitting. This feature extends the usable range to the ~660ft max. The digital display works in all measurement functions.

The D810 Touch “screen capture” function saves any image displayed on the screen, including the point finder image with the associated measurements.

This is a great feature for appraisers measuring exterior walls without a target to hit at the other end. Line up the DISTO at one end of the wall, shoot the ground or a soffit at the opposite end of the wall and Smart Horizontal will give you the level horizontal distance using the DISTO as the reference point. The farther you can shoot, the more obstacles there are to get in the way. Smart Horizontal also allows you to shoot over obstacles to measure the level horizontal distance to your target.

Remember the Pythagorean Theorem from high school geometry? It’s the old a² + b² = c² formula for figuring out the dimensions of a right triangle. DISTOs with the pythagoras feature use that formula to find horizontal and vertical distances.

You simply take two measurements, along a wall or other space you want to measure, with the DISTO acting as a fixed point on a triangle. Those two measurements act as two sides of a triangle. Once you have those measurements, the DISTO figures out the length of the final side of the triangle for you. (see image 7)
